Before You Start
In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to install and activate a plugin from the WordPress dashboard.
Step 1: Login to your WordPress dashboard. The default url to login to your dashboard is something like this: yourdomainname.com/wp-admin
Step 2: Once you are logged in, your WordPress dashboard will look similar to the below image.
Step 3: From the WordPress dashboard, hover your mouse on plugins from the left section and click on Add New.
Or You can also click the installed plugins link and see the list of plugins installed. You can add new plugins from there also. It is always recommended to install plugins that are compatible with your WordPress version.
Step 4: From Add New Plugin Section, You can be able to search the WordPress plugin directory and install any plugins you want as long as you find what you are looking for.
Step 5: For this tutorial, i am going to install Jetpack by WordPress.com. This is a plugin i recommend using on your website. All you have to do is click the Install Now so the plugin can begin installing.
Step 6: Once the plugin has been installed successfully, you will then click the blue activate button.
Step 7: Once plugin has been activate, you will now need to setup plugin if it is required.
Also you can manage your installed plugin from the installed plugins section. You can also activate and deactivate plugins from the section.
That’s it you can now install and activate a plugin from the WordPress dashboard.
For some reason, if you are not able to search and install plugins from the plugin directory or if you purchase a paid plugin, there is another way you can install the plugin still from your WordPress dashboard.
